How We Got Started

My name is Marilin Peralta, I was born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, in 1986. Recognizing the value of our heritage, my parents chose to raise my siblings and me in the Dominican Republic. There, I attended a Catholic private school until the age of 16, when my mother decided to return to the United States.

This transition was challenging; I faced language barriers and cultural differences, even within my own community. However, I soon formed lasting friendships and, within a year, became proficient in English, embracing my new life with enthusiasm.

At 17, I began engaging with the community, serving as a runway instructor for the Perth Amboy Dominican Pageant for four years. In 2009, drawing from my experience as a promotional model, I founded a promotional models agency with a team of 50 models.

The following year, upon learning I was expecting my daughter, I transitioned the agency into an etiquette and protocol academy for children and teens. To enhance my expertise, I earned certifications from John Casablancas in Santo Domingo. In 2011, I established Jaimar Academy in Perth Amboy, offering summer camps and afternoon classes to approximately 80 students. Those years were filled with events, fashion shows, photo shoots, and cherished memories. Unfortunately, due to a poor investment and limited support, I made the difficult decision to close Jaimar Academy after five years.

Prior to founding Jaimar Models and Jaimar Academy, I gained diverse experience as an event planner, immigration agent, florist, notary public, tax preparer, and full-time college student. I also served as an assistant to the president of FSG Group, Bernie Erickson, who mentored me in business acumen, writing, and English pronunciation.

Seeking to broaden my professional horizons, I obtained certification to assist individuals under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and worked diligently to help them navigate their healthcare options. Subsequently, I spent a decade in the light industrial and medical staffing industries before embracing a new challenge as a life insurance agent on a commission-only basis. Over four years with American Income Life, I realized that our experiences and outcomes are shaped by our own actions. This period was transformative, fostering my professional and personal growth.

My journey has been marked by joy, resilience, and a series of highs and lows. I've faced heartbreak and reached rock bottom multiple times, necessitating reinvention and fresh starts. This project stems from those experiences. I understand the challenges you may be facing and aspire to be the support and coach to help you move forward. Like the phoenix, you can and will rise stronger and better than ever before.
